2026 marks an extraordinary milestone for us — 75 years of Wymondham College.

To honour this landmark anniversary, the College is delighted to host its 75th Anniversary Fundraising Ball.

This special evening will bring together alumni, families & friends of the College, and former & current staff, to celebrate shared memories, achievements, and the enduring spirit of Wymondham.

What began in 1951 with a pioneering group of students has grown into a thriving community, shaped by generations of remarkable individuals who have walked its halls.

Here are the event details:

The ball will take place at Caistor Hall near Norwich on Saturday, 17 October 2026

It aims to raise money for the Wymondham College Trust and create a fabulously fun night for everyone.

The dress code is Black Tie.

The event will begin with a welcome reception, which will roll into a 3-course dinner, auction and dancing.

The evening will start at 18:00 and close at midnight.

There will be a paid bar run by Caistor Hall.

Old Wymondhamians 24^th Annual Golf Day

This year we marked the 25^th Anniversary of our first golf tournament in 2001. The missing year was due to Covid.

The weather was extremely hot at around 36 degrees in the shade and probably over 40 out on the fairway. None the less six intrepid golfers set out at noon. Two of us only made the seventh tee when we gave in to the heat; two others made it as far as the ninth hole and two completed the whole course.

It was a very tight competition between Nick Rowe and Malcolm Barnham with Malcolm winning narrowly at 27 to 24 in a Stapleford competition. Malcolm, being a resident of Brisbane, Australia may have had a small hidden advantage in overcoming the weather!

The evening meal saw 27 ex pupils attend, mainly from those who joined the College in the 50s and 60s. It was very pleasing to see four ex pupils (with their wives) from the original intake in 1951. Two of these had just passed their 90^th birthdays.

The presentation of the Bob Rowell trophy was made to Malcolm Barnham and it was rather satisfying that for the first time it will be heading overseas for a year.

An additional presentation was made to Bob Rowell, in the form of a framed photograph of him in his prime on the eve of his first England rugby game.

Bob started the competition with Mick Frohawk, who unfortunately passed away in the early 20’s.

Bob has kept the competition going for the past 25 years and this needed commemorating.

It was also pleasing to see Colin Self, who joined the College in 1952, together with his wife Jess. This is the first occasion that he has made a golf reunion .

Next years  event will be in the last Friday of June 2027.

100 Club May 2026

The May 2026 OW 100 club draw was carried out on Wednesday 27^th May 2026 at The Chequers in Thompson

Winners were: –

Steve Human – £60.00  – resident of Norwich 

Heather Gill [Starck] – £60.00 – resident of Magdalen, King’s Lynn

Barry Howell – £30.00 – resident of Norwich

Wymondham College Golf Competition & Dinner – 26th June

We are now organising the annual Wymondham College Golf competition and subsequent dinner which will be on Friday 26th June at Dunston Hall.
This year we will sit down to dinner a bit earlier at 6.00pm so that those who live locally and drive to the venue will be able to drive home whilst it is still light.
Tee times will be 12.00 noon and so that it does not preclude the less fit the trophy will be judged on the first nine holes. There is no reason why those who wish to play the full 18 holes.
The golf package with a round of golf, tea or coffee and a bacon roll will be £40 per person.
The three course dinner will be £35.00 per person.

The June OW 100 club draw will be held at the supper of the OW Golf Day at Dunston Hall Hotel, Norwich on Friday 26^th June 2026

Summer Get Together and College Tour

After a brief hiatus, the College have agreed to a tour of the campus this year for the alumni. Due to staffing constraints, there will be no barbeque, but tea/coffee and biscuits will be laid on-plus hopefully sticky buns/cake.

The plan is to tie this in with a social gathering at the July OW 100 Club draw, which was a great success last year. The draw will be on Wednesday 22nd July, at the Boars, Spooner Row, and the tour will start at the College office on Thursday 23rd July at 11.00 am.

There is no obligation to do the tour after the Wednesday social.
